COMPACT 2-STAGE OILY WATER SEPARATOR
The VG-SEP is a compact two-stage system with an oil content monitor (OCM) designed to separate and remove non-soluble oils, solids and entrained air. Capacities through 2.2 gallons per minute (0.5 m3/h) are available. The VG-SEP was originally designed and certified to International Maritime Organization IMO MEPC.60(33) regulations.

The design of the VG-SEP System utilizes vacuum, differential gravity, coalescence, and filtration to effectively reduce the free oil content to 15 PPM or less. The VG-SEP is a self-contained compact system that requires minimal piping or electrical connections to install. The first stage of the system utilizes vacuum to pull the oily water into the vessel. In the first stage, the velocity of the liquid is reduced, causing oil droplets to form, separate from the water and rise to the top for collection. Inside the first stage, the oleophillic (oil attracting) corrugated plate pack collects and promotes the separation of the oil. The water is then pumped to the second stage where any remaining solids and oils are removed through a coalescing filter. The residual oil collects on the surface of the filter and rises to the top of the second stage and is then returned to the first stage for removal.

The VG-SEP System consists of the following components:
- Integral low shear positive displacement pump
- Oil discharge pump
- Two (2) heavy-duty vertical fabricated process vessels
- 1st Stage permanent coalescing matrix
- 2nd Stage coalescer filter
- Oil sensing probes assembly
- Oil Content Monitor - 15ppm alarm
- Oily water inlet and discharge valves
- System drain valves
- System starter and control panels and electrical wiring
- All necessary system piping, gauges, switches required for operation
